Academic Therapy
at the comfort of your home

Academic Therapy is NOT tutoring. It is a process that combines how learning takes place in the brain with knowledge of specialized teaching methods. It is intensive and individualized, conducted in a one-on-one setting.
The goals of academic therapy is to fill the gaps in a student’s education, restore self esteem, and improve learning skills such as visual and auditory processing, attention and focus, and memory skills.
Academic Therapy focuses on developing thinking processes as well as basic skills such as reading, spelling and writing. It builds on a student’s strengths thus fostering independence.

Each session is conducted using the Orton-Gillingham Approach that is both diagnostic and prescriptive in nature. I will create and implement a customized program for your child that utilizes information from a variety of sources including the client’s social, emotional, psycho-educational, and neuropsychological context.
OG English
OG English strengthens more than your child's reading and spelling skills. Instruction includes phonemic awareness, phonemes and its rules, blending and segmenting words, phrases and sentences. Your child's short-term memory and processing skills will also be improved through each task. Vocabulary is introduced using prefixes, bases, suffixes. The structure of language, writing, and grammar will be covered as the child progress. Basic comprehension skills are developed as your child advances in reading.
My sessions are diagnostic and prescriptive, designed based on your child's specific needs at that hour. With OG English, your child experiences automaticity of skills, confidence, positive self-esteem, engagement in lessons as well as the tools he needs to tackle new concepts.

OG for Preschoolers

Signs of Dyslexia can be detected in early ages of a child in pre-nursery. Examples include disorganisation, poor motor skills, delayed in speech, difficulty in articulations, etc. However, any kind of dyslexic prevention can do no harm and is always better than intervention.
OG for preschoolers is designed for the early learners. Area of focus include phonemic awareness, pre-reading skills, letter-sound recognition, letter formation and basic reading / spelling skills. Your child will also learn visual skills and auditory skills , as well as working memory which are crucial for reading, spelling and basic math.

One-on-One OR small groups of up to 3 (arranged by parents)
Each session is 45 - 60 minutes
Suitable for children in Kindergarten
OG Math
OG Math is catered for those who find mathematics challenging at school because most concepts are only taught in abstract concepts which may be too complex for some.

Aligning with the essence of the Orton-Gillingham principles, each OG Math session is structured and multi sensory, using manipulatives to introduce concepts from concrete to representational, and ultimately to abstract.

Students will gain a greater conceptual and visual understanding of mathematics before they present their workings confidently in writing to meet school's requirements.

One-on-One
Each session is 60 minutes
Suitable for children in kindergarten through middle school
